Shannon Brown to be Dwyane Wade's primary backup this season
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Heat center Chris Bosh told reporters he expects Shannon Brown to be Dwyane Wade's primary backup this season, according to the Miami Herald. Brown signed a one-year deal in early September. He averaged averaged 2.2 points and 1.0 rebounds per game while shooting 36.4 percent from the field for the Knicks last season.

"He's pretty good. I'm surprised we were able to get him," Bosh said.

Dwyane Wade shooting for at least 75 games this season
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Heat guard Dwyane Wade told reporters that he wants to play at least 75 games this season, according to the Miami Herald on media day. Wade missed 28 games last season as part of the team's maintenance program to keep his knees fresh for the entirety of the season. When asked how his knee was, Wade told reporters, " It's feeling all right."

Wade signed a two-year deal in the offseason. He implemented a diet during the offseason that has him somewhere between 212-225 pounds. With LeBron James no longer in the picture, Wade expects to have a larger role as a playmaker.

"Obviously I'll have the ball in my hands a little more. I have always been a playmaker for this team. I will continue to do that. I've always been someone who’s scored the ball at a high rate. And I will always try to do that. I'm not coming in looking like I have to do anything that LeBron did, that I have to do anything that I did before the Big Three…. I've always been a leader in this organization. That doesn't change."

Dwyane Wade signs two-year deal with Miami
by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com

Heat guard Dwyane Wade continues to sacrifice for his organization -- the latest concession being a short-term deal signed Tuesday afternoon. According to the Sun Sentinel, Wade agreed to return on a two-year deal that the AP reports is worth between $16 and $17 million annually that includes a second-year player option.

This deal offers wade some of the money he forwent by opting out of his larger deal this offseason, while keeping the Heat flexible for free agents over the next two years. Wade averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game last season, but missed 29 games  as part of his season-long maintenance program.

Dwyane Wade to opt out, become free agent
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

Heat guard Dwyane Wade has opted out of his contract for 2013-14 and will become an unrestricted free agent, his agent told team president Pat Riley Saturday.

Wade played in just 54 games for the Heat last season, but was productive when he was on the floor. He shot a career-best 54.5 percent from the field, while averaging 19.0 points, 4.5 assist and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Wade turned down $20.2 million for 2014-15 and $21.7 million in 2015-16, and will likely be looking for a long-term deal with a lower annual salary, after struggling for the second postseason in a row.

Dwyane Wade plays well after nine-game absence
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

Heat guard Dwyane Wade played well in his return from a nine-game absence due to a hamstring injury Saturday, in a 98-85 loss to the Hawks.

Wade was limited to 23 minutes in the game, which doesn't come as much of a surprise given how cautious the team has been with his recovery. He played well when he was on the floor, scoring 24 points on 10 of 14 shooting, though he was just 4 of 9 from the free-throw line. Wade also added three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in the loss.

The Heat have just two games left on the schedule, and there is no way of knowing how much Wade will play before the playoffs. He is averaging 19.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 52 games this season.
