Iverson and Sixers part ways: Allen Iverson will not return to the Philadelphia 76ers this season. Team president Ed Stefanski said Tuesday that Iverson no longer wishes to be a distraction to the team and his teammates. He says Iverson and the Sixers have not found consistency as the veteran guard tries to balance his career and personal life.

Fantasy Analysis

Iverson missed the last four games to spend time with his ill daughter. He made a brief return after missing five games and the All-Star Game last month. He rejoined the Sixers in early December and the former NBA MVP and four-time scoring champion averaged 13.8 points in 28 games this season. Iverson was not released by the team, so this does not open up a window for him to sign on with another playoff-eligible team. This simply means that he won't be playing the remainder of the season and can be cut in all seasonal formats.

G Allen Iverson will not return to the team this season according to team president Ed Stefanski. Iverson has been dealing with his four-year-old daughter's undisclosed illness of late. "After discussing the situation with Allen, we have come to the conclusion that he will not return to the Sixers for the remainder of the season, as he no longer wishes to be a distraction to the organization and teammates that he loves very deeply," Stefanski said. "It has been very difficult for Allen and the team to maintain any consistency as he tries to balance his career with his personal life." Iverson averaged 13.9 points and 4.1 assists for the 76ers in 25 games this season. 32//2010

Iverson posted four messages Monday night on his Twitter account telling fans he expected to overcome the most recent obstacles in his life. Iverson had been mostly absent from the 76ers for a month, returning to Atlanta to be with his family as they deal with an undisclosed illness of his 4-year-old daughter, Messiah. Iverson and the Sixers decided last Tuesday he would not return for the rest of the season. Tawanna Iverson filed for divorce the same day.
