More bad news for the Lions on Monday. According to ESPN 96.1 in Grand Rapids, Mich., Leshoure is being arraigned Monday in Berrien County Court on a marijuana charge.
According to the Detroit Free Press, this is Leshoure's second offense in two months. The first, the paper reports, occurred in February during a traffic stop in which Leshoure was cited for marijuana possession. On March 12, Leshoure apparently was a car passenger when police stopped the vehicle. Leshoure allegedly tried to eat the marijuana he had in his possession in order to get rid of it.
"We are aware of the [arraignment] reports," the team said in a statement. "We are gathering more information and have no further comment at this time."
A few days ago, Detroit coach Jim Schwartz said, via Rapid Reporter John Kreger, that Leshoure's rehab had him on track to be ready for Lions training camp. "I never put timetables on [injuries],” Schwartz said, “but I would be surprised if he wasn't ready before.”
Here's what Leshoure told the team website last month regarding his Achilles.
"My body feels good," he said. "I'm going to turn it up a little bit more a month or so from now, but my body feels good. I'm getting my strength back in my calf muscle and my Achilles.
"I'm feeling pretty good when I run; I have no soreness or anything like that – no pain. I'm not full-speed sprints or cuts or anything like that, but just jogging in laps and half-gassers across the field and stuff.
"It's building up slowly and I can definitely see progress. I'm 100-percent sure I'll be ready for (season)."
Now, you have to wonder if Leshoure will be facing a suspension at the beginning of the season instead.
