Report: Andrew Luck won't make much more money than Cam Newton

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer
It pays to be the No. 1 draft pick. Just not as much as it used to pay.

According to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter, future Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to sign a four-year deal worth slightly more than $22 million and future Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is expected to sign a four-year contract worth between $20-21 million.

Both figures would be slightly more than what 2011 No. 1 pick Cam Newton and No. 2 pick Von Miller signed last year.

We won't know for sure what the contracts are worth until the NFL and NFLPA complete the final salary cap numbers. But as Schefter writes, the cap is only scheduled to increase by $225,000, meaning the money for the rookies will do the same.

For Luck, it's not Sam Bradford/JaMarcus Russell money. But it's not bad nonetheless.
