Warren Sapp to play judge in reality courtroom series

Warren Sapp is currently employed by NFL Network although he hasn't been on the air since calling Jeremy Shockey the "snitch" in the Saints bounty scandal. Shockey, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and various other people said that Sapp was wrong, which likely explains his prolonged absence from NFL Network.

And there's a good chance Sapp's contract won't be renewed when it expires in August. Exacerbating matters: Sapp recently filed for bankruptcy.

All of which leads to this: according to various reports, the former NFL defensive lineman's next job will be as an adjudicator of right and wrong. Sure, there are schools that train people for that line of work, but somebody somewhere thinks Sapp is qualified to make such decisions because ... well, we have no idea.

In any case, Sapp is set to star in a courtroom-based reality show called "Judge Sapp" which will appear on NOC Network's YouTube channel. And apparently, they've begun taping and are looking for audience members. Via Sportsrantz.com:

Los Angeles, Calif., casting — This is a PAID AUDIENCE of $50 Cash, paid same day to attend this show. Must be 18 and over to apply and available for 6 hours.

There's even a title animation mock-up, too.

Sapp confirmed the report to PFT saying via text message that he'll be “Dishing out a little blind justice!” which is certainly something former Packers lineman Chad Clifton would agree with.

That said, Sapp is probably better suited to dispensing legal rulings in a make-believe courtroom than screaming his NFL-related opinions (or worse). We're not sure if that speaks more to his nuanced grasp of the law or his complete lack of understanding when it comes to talking about football.

Either way, we'll watch because for all Sapp's bluster, he's also charasmatic. Plus, we have a soft spot for slow-motion train wrecks.
