Seahawks sign WR Braylon Edwards

Looks like Edwards has a reason to dance again.

A few days after Braylon Edwards worked out with the Seahawks in what has to be a last-ditch effort to save his career, the receiver reportedly has a new home in Seattle.

That's the report from Dave Softy Mahler of Sportsradio 950 AM in Seattle, and since then, the team has confirmed.

Edwards is coming off a debacle of a season with the 49ers when he made just 15 catches in nine games before he was released in December. Considering he was coming off a solid season with the Jets in 2010 (53 catches, 904 yards, seven touchdowns), the drop in production was surprising.

And he wasn't getting much interest in the free agent market, probably because of a 2010 DUI and because he hasn't been known as a great teammate in the past. But the Seahawks probably got him cheap (he played on a one-year, $1 million deal in San Francisco), and in Seattle, he'll have a chance to make the team.

Sidney Rice has been disappointing, and the team is still waiting for 2010 second-round pick Golden Tate to break out. Along with Rice, Doug Baldwin is likely the other starting receiver. But Edwards, if he performs well enough, could find work as a backup.
