Kirk Ferentz-to-Chiefs speculation ramps up (again)
In general, college coaches have a spotty track record at the professional level. Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier and Mike Riley are all examples, but the recent success of Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll has again ramped up speculation that flailing NFL teams desperate to win will look to the college ranks. Oregon's Chip Kelly is the the flavor of the month, but Iowa's Kirk Ferentz annually hears his name come up, too.
Here's the latest:
If Pioli gets another chance in KC, it could be w/the coach he wanted all along - Kirk Ferentz. Again, nothing completely certain there yet.

On KC: Pioli's best to stay w #Chiefs is to bring in #Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz. Hear Iowa coaches are calling around, inquiring about jobs.

The most amazing part of these two tweets? There's a chance that Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli keeps his job. ArrowheadPride.com points out that the Ferentz-to-Kansas City rumors are nothing new -- we've seen them in 2009, 2011 and now.
Meanwhile, CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco isn't of the opinion that Ferentz will magically make the Chiefs relevant.
The Iowa Hawkeye fans will all chip in to get Ferentz a U-Haul.
