Shannon Sharpe blasts Bill Belichick for refusing postgame interview

Bill Belichick is known for his surly disposition on those rare occasions when the Patriots lose. A lot was made of the coach not shaking Tom Coughlin's hand after the 2007 Super Bowl when the undefeated Pats lost to the upstart Giants. And now, nearly five years later, Belichick again finds himself the subject of criticism for refusing to do a postgame interview with CBS following Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

This development did not sit well with The NFL Today's Shannon Sharpe.

“There's something to be said about being gracious in defeat,” Sharpe said. “We've seen the New England Patriots five times in the last 12 years be victorious. And we've seen the opposing coaches that lost come out and talk to our Steve Tasker. Coach (Bill) Cowher did it when [the Steelers] lost to them. We saw this last week [when the Patriots beat the Texans]."

Sharpe wasn't alone in feeling this way, though he was a tad more diplomatic than Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs, who was wholly unimpressed with the Patriots and their coach.

There's more:

After the game, Belichick was typically laconic when he met with reporters.

"That was a disappointing end to a overall pretty positive season," he said. "Tonight we just didn't do enough things to well enough to win. Give the Ravens credit, they're a good football team, they just outplayed us and outcoached us tonight. They just made more plays than we did and that's pretty much the story."

In the CliffsNotes version yes, yes it was.
