The Steelers escaped St. Louis with a victory Sunday, even though they played the final quarter and a half without franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben suffered a left knee injury midway through the third quarter on a low hit by Rams safety Mark Barron.

Coach Mike Tomlin told the media after the game that Roethlisberger is being evaluated and will have an MRI on his knee.

"He is being evaluated," said Tomlin, who didn't have a problem with Barron's hit on Roethlisberger. "We will get him an MRI. I will have more information for you the next time we get together. He is being evaluated. I gave you all of the information I have. I promise I will give you some more when we get it."

For what it's worth, Roethlisberger didn't break anything but the team is likely out with Big Ben for at least a month, per ESPN.

Meanwhile, the Steelers are on a short week; they face the 0-3 Ravens on Thursday, and while the extent of Roethlisberger's injury is unknown, it's reasonable to think that he may not be ready to play four days from now.

If Roethlisberger can't go, veteran Mike Vick would likely get the start and third-year quarterback Landry Jones would be the backup.

Roethlisberger, who had been well-protected this season before the injury, last missed a start in 2012.
