UPDATE (11:51 a.m. ET): The Steelers have activated Ben Roethlisberger (foot) vs. the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Though he won't get the start, there does appear to be a possibility that he'll get in the game at some point, at least according to former Steeler Jerome Bettis:

ORIGINAL POST (10:35 a.m. ET): Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who suffered a sprained foot against the Oakland Raiders last week, will operate as the backup quarterback to Landry Jones against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, according to a report from ESPN.

Roethlisberger, who has already ditched the walking boot that he was expected to be in all week, got in a couple of limited practices late in the week and is "progressing ahead of schedule," per ESPN. The Steelers will take their bye in Week 11, and based on Big Ben's current progress, a return for Week 12 against the Seahawks doesn't appear out of the question at this point.

The Browns game will be the seventh this season that Roethlisberger has missed all or part of due to injury. He previously sprained his MCL in a Week 3 win over the St. Louis Rams, missing the rest of that game as well as the next four against the Ravens, Chargers, Cardinals, and Chiefs. Pittsburgh went 2-2 across those four games with Mike Vick and Jones splitting the starts.

Roethlisberger looked good on the first drive of his return against the Bengals in Week 8, but struggled throughout the rest of the game and the Steelers lost, 16-10. He bounced back with a solid performance in Oakland before leaving the game on a cart midway through the fourth quarter.
