Josh Gordon was supposed to return after his four-week suspension and help bolster a Browns team that was already short-handed in terms of weapons in the passing game.

However, things have gone very south very quickly for Cleveland.

Robert Griffin III was put on injured reserve after one week and Josh McCown is injured as well. Gordon doesn't look like he'll be returning either, as the receiver announced Thursday he would be entering rehab instead of returning to the Browns after his suspension.

Asked about Gordon's status on Friday, Browns coach Hue Jackson said the team is "moving on" and they "need to close that chapter."

Not a good sign for Gordon's future.

Gordon led the NFL in receiving in 2013 with 1,646 yards. He did that despite playing only 13 games (due to suspension) and despite catching passes from Jason Campbell, Brandon Weeden and Brian Hoyer. When he is on the field, Gordon is a game-changing talent.

He just can't stay on the field.

He has just 32 games started in his career, which is the same number he'll have missed because of suspension in 2015 and 2016 alone if he doesn't return this season. He also recently had an arrest warrant issued over a paternity case.

Mix in the other myriad suspensions and Gordon is staring at more games missed than played. It's a fitting statistic for the career of an incredibly talented individual who could never get his life right off the field.

Hopefully this latest attempt will change his outlook and allow the 25-year-old to find some peace.
