Browns will go back to rookie Cody Kessler as starting quarterback
Kessler has made five starts this season and will get a long look the rest of the way
The Cleveland Browns are making a switch at quarterback once again. After starting Josh McCown last week against the New York Jets, coach Hue Jackson stated on Friday that rookie third-rounder Cody Kessler will get the call this week against the Dallas Cowboys, and that he hopes Kessler keeps the job the rest of the season.

"The more I can see guys play, the better decision I can make moving forward," Jackson said, per ESPN.com.
The Browns have run through six different quarterbacks already this season, including Terrelle Pryor, who has primarily played wide receiver. Robert Griffin III got the start in the season opener but he was placed on injured reserve after the game. McCown started the next week but he was also injured during that game. Kessler had received every start since then before McCown returned against the Jets, but the Browns also used Charlie Whitehurst and Kevin Hogan under center at different times.
With Cleveland sitting at 0-8 and looking like an overwhelming favorite to have the top pick of the draft, it makes sense that Jackson wants to take the rest of the season to see what he has in Kessler, to give the organization as much information as possible when the Browns are deciding if they want to take a quarterback with (presumably) the No. 1 overall pick.
Kessler has completed 63.6 percent of his passes at 7.1 yards per attempt while throwing four touchdowns and one interception in his five games. He's certainly exceeded the expectations of a typical third-round selection, but the Browns could not yet reasonably know if he should be the quarterback of the future.
"That's why he's playing," Jackson said. "Because I need to know."
Over the next eight games, he's determined to find out.
