The Cowboys spent Monday evening at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas, for a charity home run derby. We know this because the team's website covered the event -- coach Jason Garrett was the derby champ -- and all told, the event raised $50,000.

In addition to Garrett, Jason Witten, Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott all took part in the competition. Dez Bryant was also scheduled to step in the batter's box, too, but ... well, he was late to the festivities for reasons that we'll let him explain.

"I was ready to get them [cleats] dirty, but we had a little issue," Bryant began, according to the Dallas Morning News, before admitting that he drove to the wrong field -- Globe Life Park in Arlington.

"Y'all don't kill me too much," Bryant continued. "My son has already killed me. I was ready to go back to the house. He was like, 'Daddy, [Jason] Witten's kids are there. I want to go.' So I was like let's go enjoy this, have fun, see the fans and have a great time."

Silver lining: Bryant didn't get his new Jordans dirty.

Bonus: Here's Elliott, he of the questionable baseball swing, going yard anyway and punctuating the home run with an homage to his Salvation Army touchdown celebration.
