Fernandez and two others were killed in an early morning boating accident off the coast of Miami Beach. According to CBS Miami, a boat crew from Coast Guard Station Miami found an overturned 33-foot vessel with three victims on board.
Fernandez, who left Cuba as a teenager and won the 2013 Rookie of the Year award, was 24 years old. The Marlins canceled Sunday's game against the Braves.
