Harvard man Ryan Fitzpatrick is tiring of all your Wonderlic questions
Ryan Fitzpatrick reportedly scored a 48 on the Wonderlic. But don't ask him about it.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, the current starting quarterback of the New York Jets, went to Harvard, but you probably already knew that. He also reportedly scored a 48 out of 50 on the Wonderlic, which is supposedly really hard to do, but you probably already knew that too.
So, I think we can all agree that Fitzpatrick is a smart man.
Now that we can all agree on that, maybe it's time to stop asking Fitzpatrick about that time he nearly aced a test, because Fitzpatrick is kind of over answering that question.
"Yeah, I would say the Wonderlic is probably the one I least like answering," Fitzpatrick told the Dan Le Batard Show, via NFL.com.
And, since this might be the last time we broach the topic, let's recall the time it was reported that he scored a perfect 50 on the Wonderlic. Fitzpatrick explained how that myth got going.
"So, I come out of the test, and I think NFL Network, or somebody, I don't even know if they were around back then. ESPN maybe came up and said 'It's been reported you got a 50.' And it's not like you take the test and they give you your score. I said 'I left one blank, so I definitely didn't get a 50.' So then it was reported I got a 49," Fitzpatrick said. "Again, everybody's trying to paint the picture. The myth was drawn of all the different test scores."
So, there you have it. There's the full story. Fitzpatrick didn't ace the Wonderlic. So, no more questions are needed, at least not about the Wonderlic.
On other hand, if you were to ask Fitzpatrick about football, that might be a touchy subject. While the Jets have burst out to a 3-1 start, Fitzpatrick's quarterback rating after four games sits at 78.1, which ranks 29th in the league. More alarming is his knack for throwing picks. He's been intercepted six times, which is just one back of co-interception leaders Jameis Winston and Andrew Luck.
Meanwhile, Geno Smith -- who only lost the job because he got punched in the locker room -- is healthy.
