Here's why Aaron Rodgers throws more interceptions in training camp
Aaron Rodgers is getting picked off a lot in the early days of training camp. There's a reason why.

In only six practices at Packers training camp, Aaron Rodgers has already tossed five interceptions. Throughout the entire 2014 regular season, Rodgers was picked off only five times.
But there's a reason for Rodgers' surge in turnovers during training camp. While it might be a bit misleading to say that Rodgers is intentionally throwing interceptions, Rodgers is actually trying to throw the ball into areas where defenders have a chance to beat the receivers to the football.
Why is Rodgers intentionally being more careless with the football? Because he is trying his best to test his receivers before the passes begin to matter once the regular season rolls around. He wants to see which receivers he can trust to win the 50/50 situations.
"That's what camp is all about, sorting those things out," Rodgers said via the Packers' official website. "Seeing who's going to be sticking around for the season and who's going to be looking for a job. You have to show it in practice in order for me to feel comfortable making those throws in the games. That's what this is all about. You make some of these throws and see how the guys respond."
Jordy Nelson, Rodgers' go-to guy, seems to endorse the idea.
"He's shown through the years that he will take care of the ball come in-season," Nelson said. "It makes complete sense what he's trying to do, especially with some younger guys to see if they will compete for that ball and go get it."
And Nelson is right. Here's Rodgers' interception rate from last season: 1.0 percent.
