If Von Miller were in charge, Johnny Manziel would already be on Broncos
Von Miller still wants Johnny Manziel on the Broncos.
You would think at a certain point the whole "Johnny Manziel to the Broncos" train would stop moving. Like, before it got out of the station.
Apparently it won't stop though. Not too long after Gary Kubiak and Denver talked to Manziel, we got Von Miller, Super Bowl 50 MVP and another former player at Texas A&M, talking about his buddy again.
Speaking at what appears to be an A&M event, Miller said if he could make the call he'd have Manziel on the Broncos right now.
"If I had to make my decision on it he would already be with the Broncos," Miller said. "But we’ve got guys in the front office who make those decisions. And they put us in championships with those decisions so I’m just going to follow those guys and have those guys take the lead."

There's a big "but" there.
And it involves John Elway, who has done an effectively superb job of analyzing the quarterback market so far. He rooted out the Tim Tebow problem in Denver, brought in Peyton Manning, managed to nearly coax a Super Bowl out of Manning when he played well and actually got Manning to win a Super Bowl when he wasn't.
He lost Brock Osweiler but he didn't pay $72 million for Brock Osweiler, which is usually a win. He's not budging on the 49ers' demands for Colin Kaepernick, and he's not overpaying for Ryan Fitzpatrick or another average-ish quarterback in the free agent market.
Elway might not be sitting on a franchise quarterback right now, but he's not stuck in purgatory either. Which is precisely why he's not going to sign Manziel, regardless of what the best player on his roster wants.
