Judge to Johnny Manziel at court hearing: 'You're a grown man'
Manziel appeared in court for the first time after he was charged with domestic violence.
A day after he turned himself into police, Johnny Manziel appeared in court Thursday for the first time since a grand jury indicted him on a misdemeanor assault charge. Manziel, as expected, didn't speak with reporters at the hearing, even after a media contingent engulfed him.

In all, the hearing lasted less than 10 minutes. As CBS Fort Worth reported, Manziel was ordered by the judge to stay away from his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, which includes no texting and no emailing. Manziel, who was released on $1,500 bail Wednesday, accepted the order and promised that he wouldn't possess any firearms. Kevin Quinn of ABC 13 reported that the judge did not require Manziel to remain in Texas.
"You're an adult," the judge told Manziel, per CBSDFW. "You're a grown man."
Manziel is facing a maximum one-year jail sentence and a $4,000 fine.
In late January, Manziel allegedly assaulted Crowley several times. Crowley's attorney accused Manziel of rupturing Crowley's eardrum during the incident, though Manziel denied all of the accusations. Last month, a grand jury indicted the former Browns first-round pick and Texas A&M Heisman Trophy winner.
Manziel was released by the Browns on March 11 and is currently a free agent.
