Cam Newton slightly changed up his end zone celebration on Sunday and that slight change could lead to a fine, according to the NFL's former vice president of officiating, Mike Pereira.

After Newton scored on an 8-yard run in the first quarter, the Panthers quarterback did two things he's been doing all season: He dabbed and then he gave the ball away to a young fan sitting in the front row at the Georgia Dome.

However, this time around, Newton added an extra element to his celebration: He rocked the "baby" to sleep.

The problem with that celebration is that Newton used the ball as a prop. According to Pereira, Newton probably should've been penalized and likely could be fined for the celebration.

"That should've been a 15-yard penalty. [The officials] need to be consistent when they call these. Using a ball as a prop is a 15-yard penalty," Pereira said. "I'm surprised they didn't call it. Mr. Newton might end up getting a fine, even though he didn't get called for a penalty."

If he gets fined for the touchdown celebration, Newton probably won't care because the score helped him make NFL history. The 8-yard touchdown, which gave Carolina a 7-0 lead, was Newton's eight rushing touchdown of the year.

The Falcons beat the Panthers, 20-13, handing Carolina its first loss of the season.
