Matt Ryan put in a solid evening's work in the Falcons' 45-32 win over the Saints on Monday night, and there's plenty to celebrate from his 240-yard, 2-touchdown performance. If nothing else, we've established once and for all that the franchise quarterback should never, ever be asked to block someone.

Exhibit A:

We're guessing Ryan's inner monologue went something like this: "Hey, here comes Devonta! I'm going to try to slow up any would-be tacklers by getting in the w-- OH MY GOD, THAT'S NICK FAIRLEY, I'M OUT!"

And then Ryan's brain short-circuited, his legs gave out, and he hugged the turf for dear life. That's the textbook definition of "business decision" and you know what? Not a single person watching that clip blames him for it.

That said, Ryan's wife was able to make jokes.

And Ryan was too.

"That was bad," Ryan said with a laugh, via ESPN.com. "[Devonta] did such a good job. I didn't really anticipate the ball coming back that way. And when he did, I just kind of wanted to get in the way and make sure he could outrun him. And I caught an edge on my cleat and fell. It probably ended up for the best because [Fairley] was kind of eyeing on me pretty good. He would have hit me pretty good. Not my finest moment, but a good play for us nonetheless."

But Ryan gets the last laugh, at least for now: The Falcons are 2-1 and lead the NFC South.
