Matthew Stafford's wife doesn't like when people talk negatively about her husband and she really doesn't like it when someone insults his intelligence, which offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi apparently did after he was fired.

A few days after Lombari was let go, the NFL Network reported that Lombardi was "frustrated" with Stafford's ability to grasp the offense.

"[Lombardi] was frustrated that he couldn't put enough on Stafford's plate, [Lombardi] did not think Stafford was able to handle it," NFLN's Ian Rapoport said. "[Stafford] was not taking as much control of the offense as the coaching staff wanted."

Rapoport also added that he was told that new offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter "had to simplify things" for Stafford.

Kelly Stafford took to Instagram on Friday to dispute that.

"So I guess I'm a little behind the time since I have been enjoying myself on the beach," Kelly wrote. "Heard that one of the coaches, who got fired, came after Matthew's intelligence. That is seriously comical."

Kelly also added that the accusation made Lombardi look "desperate."

"Come after the way he plays all you want, but the second you come after his intelligence is when you look far too desperate," Kelly wrote, noting that her husband scored a 38 on the Wonderlic.

Kelly also added some kind words for all of her followers, "If you're getting tired of me sticking up for my husband, then PLEASE feel free to unfollow. Please."

Stafford's wife wasn't the only one who had his back -- Lions backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky also defended the Lions starter.

Orlovsky actually went on a seven-tweet tirade, which you can see here.

Anyway, maybe Lombardi was the problem, because based on Orlovsky's tweets, it doesn't seem like he or Stafford liked him very much.
