After missing the first two weeks of organized team activities, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer has returned to the fold.

Zimmer is returning following his eighth eye surgery since suffering a detached retina last year. Zimmer's duties were covered by defensive line coach Andre Patterson in his absence.

The notoriously grizzled Zimmer hasn't handled the injury any differently than one would expect, going as far as to tell tight end Kyle Rudolph, "Hey, I'll be back shortly with one eye or two. Doesn't really matter - I'm going to be back", per ESPN. The fact that he said that through text really only makes it more awesome.

The injury itself is no laughing matter. Doctors have told Zimmer that he can expect similar issues to develop in his left eye. He hasn't let himself be sidelined completely, watching film and conferencing with his fellow coaches while on rest. Although some have speculated on retirement if his eyesight worsens, Zimmer has consistently and defiantly refuted it as a possibility.

Zimmer will participate in the Vikings' three OTAs this week before concluding with a mandatory minicamp June 13-15.
