At some point, the stink has to go away. Right?

I just can't get any traction this season with my NFL picks. My best bets, the same ones I enter in the in the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook contest as part of Team Oddshark, were 2-3 again last week. That puts me at 12-18 this season.

That makes me almost puke.

There is no way the picks should be that bad. So I say it is turnaround time. The chill is coming. The leaves have changed, so maybe my luck will as well.

Every weekend starts so well, and then fades into crap-land.

Since I included the Thursday night game in my contest picks -- I took the Packers minus-7 -- I have five more picks.

If the extra pick wins, count it. If not, don't.

Just kidding.

They all count here -- which hasn't been a good thing.

Packers minus-7 vs. Bears (Thu.): I got one. I got one. I got one.

Rams plus-3 vs. Giants: This will be an early start in London, so body clocks could be an issue. I think the Rams' defense will pressure Eli Manning into mistakes. The Rams won't do much on offense, either, so look for L.A. to win a close game late.

Eagles plus-2½ vs. Vikings: The Eagles came off their bye and lost two straight. The Vikings are coming off their bye. The Eagles are home for the first time in a month, and last time at home they rattled the Steelers. I think this is a good spot for an upset.

Chargers plus 6½ vs. Falcons: The Chargers could be undefeated if they could hold a lead. This is a long trip, and it's the Falcons' first home game in three weeks, but I think Philip Rivers can match throws with Matt Ryan. It will be close, but the Falcons will win it late on a field goal. Give me the points.

49ers plus minus-2 vs. Buccaneers: With a start under his belt, I think Colin Kaepernick will be better in his second one. It's not like the Bucs are great on defense. This is also a long trip for a young team coming off a bye. Where will their focus be?

Extra pick

Jaguars minus-1 vs. Raiders: The Raiders have defensive issues, which could be the perfect tonic for an ailing Jacksonville offense. I think that unit goes more up-tempo to score. The Raiders will get theirs, but in the end I think the Jacksonville defense will make a big stop to win it and cover.
