Rams players get a $48,000 L.A. welcome gift from a Dodgers pitcher
Clayton Kershaw just bought the Rams a lot of liquor
The best part of making a big move across the country is that there's usually some kind housewarming gift involved when you get to your new location. For instance, my parents bought me a crockpot when I moved from Ohio to California. To this day, I've still never used it.
Anyway, although the Rams didn't get any housewarming gifts after making the move from St. Louis to Los Angeles, they did get a nice welcome gift from Clayton Kershaw: $48,000 worth of liquor.
The injured Dodgers pitcher, who's currently on injured reserve, sent several bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue to the Rams as a way to welcome them to L.A. Each bottle contained a custom engraving that said, "Welcome Home! LA All Day."

Here's a closer look at the bottle:

Apparently, Kershaw wanted to make sure every player, coach and family member got a bottle, because he sent a total of 200 to the Rams' headquarters.
Now, Kershaw probably didn't have to foot the bill for all 200 bottles, but if he did, that's a $48,000 welcome gift. The math on that is pretty simple: An engraved bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue goes for about $240, and if you buy 200 of those, well, things get real expensive, real fast.
Don't feel sorry for Kershaw though; he's in the middle of a seven-year, $215 million deal with the Dodgers, so he's not really hurting for money.
"I know our loyal L.A. fan base has been waiting for this moment for a long time," Kershaw said, via ABC-7 in L.A. "To celebrate their return and welcome the Rams back to our city, it seemed fitting to send the team limited edition bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue Label: Year of the Ram. I look forward to watching them play for many seasons to come."
Of course, since there's liquor involved here, Kershaw also added a toast.
"Here's to a new beginning, great success and a winning season," Kershaw said.
Winning season? If that happens, Rams fans will be the ones buying the liquor because they'll be in celebration mode. The Rams haven't had a winning season since 2003.
Maybe a change of scenery is exactly what the Rams need. The team only had four winning seasons during their 21 years in St. Louis. To put that in perspective, the team had six winning years during their final 12 seasons in L.A. (1983-94).
