The Ravens suffered an ugly loss to the Broncos on Sunday afternoon in Denver, but it was worse than they could have imagined, with linebacker Terrell Suggs going down for the year with a torn Achilles.

Suggs suffered what looked like a foot injury in the fourth quarter against Denver and hobbled off the field before being carted to the locker room.

The team confirmed it was a torn Achilles after the game.

"Adversity is all about how you respond to it," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said.

Suggs previously tore his Achilles while exercising during the offseason in May 2012. He was able to miraculously return by November, when the Ravens put him on the short-term IR.

This latest injury is a massive blow to the Ravens because they don't have the luxury of six months for Suggs to rehab and get back in shape for the stretch run.

Instead, an already revamped defense is now without its best player. Elvis Dumervil is capable of carrying the load as a pass rusher, but losing Suggs changes the impact the Ravens have on defense in a major way.
