Rolando McClain may soon be done with the Dallas Cowboys, and done with the NFL altogether. According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, McClain failed yet another drug test and is set to be suspended for another year, on top of the 10-game suspension he received this offseason that was set to end Monday.

McClain will likely appeal the suspension but the middle linebacker won't be back with the team.

McClain was a star at Alabama before the Raiders made him the No. 8 pick in the draft back in 2010. He quickly washed out with Oakland amid ineffective play and several off-field incidents. He was waived in May 2013 after spending three seasons in Oakland. Five days later he signed with the Baltimore Ravens, but he retired before playing a down for the team.

After a year off, the Cowboys acquired McClain and a seventh-round pick from the Ravens for a sixth-rounder after Sean Lee was lost for the 2014 season. He had an excellent season until he broke down due to injuries late in the year, but showed the Cowboys enough that they gave him a contract to return the following year. He was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy, but he played in 11 of the final 12 games and mostly played well again so the Cowboys gave him yet another one-year deal for 2016.

He has yet to step foot on the field this season, as he was suspended again (for 10 games this time) in June. It was reported at the time that he had become addicted to the promethazine/codeine mixture known as "purple drank" and had ballooned to 40 pounds overweight. Now, on the eve of his return, McClain has been suspended yet again. His career with the Cowboys is over, and his career in the NFL might be as well.
