Texans right tackle Derek Newton reportedly tears both patella tendons
Derek Newton suffered an awful injury against the Broncos on Monday night
When Texans right tackle Derek Newton went down against the Broncos on Monday night, his apparent leg injury looked bad enough. The Texans quickly ruled him out with what they called a knee injury.
But it looked worse:
In 12 years of playing and 16 years as an analyst I've never seen them put air casts on both legs. That doesn't look good

It ended up being bad. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Newton tore both of his patella tendons on one play.
This is awful. #Texans RT Derek Newton has torn both patella tendons, @MikeGarafolo & I report, and there is more damage. As bad as can be.

So, that means his season is over. Here's more on the via NFL.com:
The O-lineman's season is over, and per both Garafolo and Rapoport, the recovery is expected to be "incredibly long and difficult."
When the injury initially happened, Newton didn't get back up off the ground.

Trainers then surrounded him.

Eventually, they moved him to a cart and he exited the field.

Newton, a seventh-round pick back in 2011, started every game for the Texans from 2013-2015.
