In the year 2016, too often social media accounts are a little too cute. Everyone tries too hard. Not the Carolina Panthers social media team. Quality tweets and brand management come second nature to the best team Twitter account in the NFL.

So when lightning struck near Nashville and resulted in a delay during Week 2 of the preseason against the Titans, the Panthers had an easy solution on how to pass the time.

They fired up a game of tic-tac-toe.

The Titans were willing to play ball.

The Panthers then went bottom right to counter the Titans move. Not a bad idea, but not necessarily the best idea -- it blocks the Titans from filling out vertically, but it also limits the Panthers options.

The Titans then made the only move they could, blocking the Panthers from going diagonally and also setting themselves up for a horizontal win. Easy choice.

The Panthers next move was easy too.

Naturally, the Titans blocked the Panthers potential vertical win.

So the Panthers tried a different route.

Tennessee made a final block, setting up a tie with no action and incorporating a pretty boss little Photoshop action.

Of course, this means it's a draw. Or, as it's called in tic-tac-toe ... wait for it, wait for it ... "a cat's game."

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!

What a brilliant move from the Panthers. Totally set up the Titans the whole way and then finished them with a little Horatio Caine.

Social media at its finest.
