Vontaze Burfict, Doug Baldwin reportedly fined for middle-finger gestures
Vontaze Burfict has been fined more than $805,000 since coming into the league
Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict and Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin may have been 2,000 miles apart last Sunday but both players had the same idea to flash their middle fingers during their Week 11 games. And in a profession where twerking is not only frowned upon but punished, perhaps you won't be surprised to learn that Burfict and Baldwin were reportedly fined for their respective one-finger salutes, according to ESPN.com.
If you're keeping score, Burfict has been fined more than $805,000 in five seasons, though this is the first time he's been sanctioned for flipping the bird. So points for creativity, we guess.
Meanwhile, Baldwin admitted afterwards that his bird-flipping was directed at his offensive coordinator after Darrell Bevell called for a trick play that had quarterback Russell Wilson running a pass pattern.
"We're in the f---ing red zone, and you want me to throw the ball?" Baldwin joked at the time. "Throw me the ball."
Baldwin to Wilson?

BALDWIN TO WILSON!@DangeRussWilson hauls in the TD catch! 😱😱😱 #PHIvsSEAhttps://t.co/dvj3mICaqv
Happy ending: Baldwin may not have been on the receiving end of that touchdown, but he did throw it.
"It's more funny than it is anything," Baldwin continued. "[Bevell] knows that when we get in the red zone, I want the ball thrown to me. I want to score touchdowns. And so, it's like in that situation, him flipping the bird to me because now he's got me throwing the ball to somebody else."
The NFL didn't see the humor. Bevell, thankfully, did.
"Doug and I have a great relationship, first and foremost," he said. "I think Doug in his excitement, when he heard the play called in the huddle and knowing that he was going to get an opportunity to make Seahawk history, he was really excited, and he wanted to tell Bev that he was No. 1. And he just messed up a little bit there. If I could inspire him to make that perfect pass, then I'll go ahead and take it."
It's unclear how much both players were fined but the league has been known to frown upon such antics. Back in 2009, then-Titans owner Bud Adams gave the finger to Bills fans during a game and the league fined him $250,000.
Adams wasted little time apologizing.
"I need to apologize for my actions yesterday near the end of the game. I got caught up in the excitement of a great day, but I do realize that those types of things shouldn't happen. I need to specifically apologize to the Bills, their fans, our fans and the NFL," he said in a statement at the time. "I obviously have a great deal of respect for [Bills owner] Ralph Wilson and the history we have shared. I also understand there will probably be league discipline for my actions and I will accept those."
In 2013, then-Dolphins defensive lineman Randy Starks was caught on camera giving the finger to the Dolphins' sideline though he wasn't fined.
"Of course I regret it," Starks said a few days later. "It's something I shouldn't have [done]. It was something that I was joking around with my teammates. Whatever consequences happen, I have to take it."
And most recently, former Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel incurred a $12,000 fine after giving the finger to the Redskins' sideline during a preseason game his rookie season.
