What happened to Michael Vick's dogs? Here's the uplifting answer
A documentary explains what happened to the animals that were involved in Michael Vick's dog-fighting ring.

After Michael Vick was was sentenced to 23 months in a federal prison in 2007 for running a dogfighting ring in Virginia, one of the biggest questions remaining after the trial was, "What should happen to the dogs?"
For the most part, dogfighting dogs are considered dangerous, and after Vick's trial, there were several groups -- including PETA and the Humane Society of the United States -- that wanted them euthanized.
That's not what happened.
Many of the dogs ended up in different animal shelters across the country. After the dogs were taken in, someone decided to make a documentary about them, which was released on March 1.
The documentary, which is called The Champions, tells the story of five of the dogs who were rescued and later adopted by different families.
Vick's crimes came back into the spotlight this year after he signed with the Steelers. Back in August, a group started a petition calling for the Steelers to get rid of Vick. In September, the Animal Rights League canceled an event at Heinz Field due to the Steelers' association with Vick.
After he was convicted in 2007, Vick served 21 months in a Kansas prison before spending the final two months of his sentence under home confinement.
Vick is now trying to save animals. The Steelers quarterback even spent time at the Pennsylvania statehouse in December trying to convince lawmakers to pass PA House Bill 1516, which has been nicknamed "The Pets Bill."
