49ers, Seahawks Clash Week 18 To Decide NFC 1-Seed

Fantasy News

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Active for Week 18

Stout (concussion) is active for Saturday night's game against the Seahawks, Briana Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports. Stout was able to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in time for Saturday's divisional clash. The third-round rookie will have a task ahead of him, as he will likely face matchups with 2025 receiving yards leader Jaxon Smith-Njigba as well as Cooper Kupp and Rashid Shaheed.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Questionable for Saturday

Stout (concussion) is questionable to play against the Seahawks on Saturday. Stout suffered a concussion against the Bears on Sunday and logged an LP/LP/FP practice progression this week. Despite Friday's full session, he's been tabbed questionable for Week 18, which may mean he has yet to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. If Stout is able to get clearance to play, including from an independent neurologist, he'll likely take on his usual role as San Francisco's starting slot cornerback for a battle with Seattle that will determine the No. 1 NFC playoff seed.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Limited to open Week 18 prep

Stout (concussion) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Stout entered the league's concussion protocol during the 49ers' 42-38 win over the Bears on Sunday and finished the game with four tackles (three solo). His ability to practice Tuesday in a limited capacity indicates that he is progressing through protocol, but he would need to be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to be available for Saturday's NFC West tilt against the Seahawks.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Done for night

Stout (concussion) will not return to Sunday night's game against the Bears, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Stout banged his head on the turf in the second half against Chicago and will now presumably land in concussion protocol. Prior to exiting, Stout recorded four tackles (three solo). Chase Lucas is next up at slot cornerback for the Niners.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Tallies six stops

Stout recorded six tackles (two solo) with one pass defensed in Monday's 20-9 win over the Panthers. Stout continued to play a part-time role in the San Francisco defense, as he was on the field for 27 of 46 defensive snaps while manning the slot. While that keeps his snap rate in check, Stout has at least six tackles in four of his last five games.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Makes four stops in Week 10 loss

Stout secured four tackles (one solo) against the Rams in Sunday's loss. Stout logged just a 42 percent defensive snap share, his lowest of the campaign. The rookie has had an up-and-down season, but he's shown plenty of promise, so it will be interesting to see if his snap share ticks back up in Week 11 against Arizona.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Full participant Thursday

Stout (ankle) was a full practice participant Thursday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. The rookie third-rounder was unable to play against the Falcons in Week 7 due to an ankle injury. He upgraded from a limited practice participant Wednesday to a full one Thursday, which puts him on track to return for Week 8 against the Texans on Sunday. Stout's return will mean less snaps in the secondary for Chase Lucas and Darrell Luter.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Picks up ankle injury Thursday

Stout (shoulder) injured his ankle during Thursday's practice and is questionable to play against the Falcons on Sunday, Noah Furtado of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Stout injured his ankle during the final play of Thursday's practice. The injury puts the rookie third-rounder in jeopardy of missing Sunday's home game, and his status may not be officially announced until approximately 90 minutes prior to the 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. Jason Pinnock and Malik Mustapha could be deployed in nickel packages if Stout is not cleared to play.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Nursing ankle injury

Head coach Kyle Shanahan relayed Friday that Stout is considered day-to-day due to an ankle sprain that he suffered during the 49ers' 26-23 overtime win over the Rams on Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Stout played 38 of 68 defensive snaps (55.9 percent) and finished with eight tackles (two solo) during Thursday's win, but he's come out of that contest a little worse for wear. Shanahan noted that Stout is not dealing with a high-ankle sprain, so the rookie third-rounder isn't certain to miss the 49ers' Week 6 clash against the Buccaneers on Sunday, Oct. 12. Stout has logged 20 tackles (10 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and two pass defenses through the first five regular-season games of his NFL career.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Recovered from calf injury

Stout (calf) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. A calf injury prevented Stout from playing in any of San Francisco's preseason games. However, his full participation in Wednesday's practice indicates that the rookie-third rounder has recovered from the injury and is on track to play in Sunday's regular-season opener against Seattle. Stout should see a significant amount of playing time in the secondary with the 49ers' first-team defense alongside Deommodore Lenoir, Renardo Green, Ji'Ayir Brown and Jason Pinnock.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Returns to practice

Stout (calf) returned to practice Wednesday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Stout was a standout player during offseason practice and training camp before being sidelined by a calf issue. He's expected back for Week 1, and his participation in practice supports that report.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Expected back by Week 1

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday that the 49ers aren't worried about Stout's (calf) availability for Week 1 against the Seahawks on Sept. 7, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports. Stout has missed both preseason games but did work out on the side of Monday's practice. It's unclear if Stout will be able to play in the preseason finale, but it does sound like he's nearing a return to team drills. Stout was a third-round pick out of Western Kentucky back in April.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Not playing Saturday

Stout (calf) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders on Saturday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Stout is working through a calf injury, which will cause him to miss the 49ers' first two games of the preseason. The rookie third-rounder is battling for a consistent role in the 49ers' secondary, and he'll aim for being available for the Niners' preseason finale against the Chargers on Saturday, Aug. 23. Darrell Luter and Dallis Flowers should see an uptick in snaps at corner due to injuries to Stout and Renardo Green (hamstring).

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Still dealing with calf issue

Stout (calf) did not participate at Monday's training camp practice, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports. Stout was held out of San Francisco's preseason opener Saturday due to calf tightness, and that's apparently still bothering him ahead of a scheduled joint practice with the Raiders on Thursday. Until he's able to get back onto the field, Tre Brown could be in line to see more reps in the slot at cornerback.
