Dee Milliner not expected to suit up Week 1
by Larry Hartstein |

The "feeling right now" is that Jets cornerback Dee Milliner (high ankle sprain) won't play Week 1 against the Raiders, reports the New York Daily News. New York would be forced to start Darrin Walls and Antonio Allen at corner, with Kyle Wilson manning the slot, the report said.

Antonio Allen officially diagnosed with concussion
by Chris Towers |

Jets quarterback Antonio Allen was diagnosed with a concussion Friday, after taking a hit to the head during Friday's preseason game against the Giants. Allen will have to go through the league's concussion protocol before he can be cleared to play, and seems unlikely to return in time for Thursday's preseason finale against the Eagles.

Antonio Allen exits game after head-to-head collision
by Igor Mello |

Jets safety Antonio Allen was forced out of Friday's preseason game against the Giants after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit with teammate Demario Davis in the second quarter. Allen was shaken up after the hit and escorted to the locker room for further evaluation. The team has not revealed the extent of the injury, though he was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Antonio Allen trying to unseat Dawan Landry
by Larry Hartstein |

Jets third-year safety Antonio Allen has a good chance to unseat Dawan Landry for a starting job, reports the New York Daily News. Landry had 100 tackles, a sack and an interception last year.

"Landry was adequate but unspectacular last season, and the Jets may be hoping to unleash some of Allen’s playmaking ability," the report said. The paper considers first-round pick Calvin Pryor "a lock" to man one safety spot.

Antonio Allen slated for more playing time
by Marty Gitlin |

The signing of future Hall of Fame free safety Ed Reed has taken a severe toll on the playing time of second-year safety Antonio Allen. Allen played in 63 percent of the snaps in the first nine games and just 11 percent since as Reed has been on the field 91 percent of the time, per the New York Daily News.

That ratio could be changing, however. The Jets have performed no better against the pass since the arrival of Reed, who has yet to be on the winning side this year. Rex Ryan said he is planning on giving Allen more reps.

"(Allen) continues to play at a high level and I have to get him on the field more," Ryan said.

The Jets host Oakland on Sunday.
