It is time to sit Tom Brady
by Chris Towers |

We all mostly assumed Tom Brady's 2013 season was an aberration, right? Sure, he posted his lowest touchdown total and yards per attempt mark since 2006, but hey, he didn't have Rob Gronkowski to throw to! So, what's the excuse now?

With Gronkowski playing a higher percentage of the snaps than any game prior, Brady still put up a dud on Monday night against the Chiefs, in the worst showing of an already disappointing season. He has now failed to even reach 15 Fantasy points in his first four games this season, and is off to the worst start of his career.

Even in his disappointing 2013 campaign, Brady had 75 Fantasy points through four games, compared to 43 after Monday's 6-point effort. It isn't all on Brady of course, as the Patriots' receiving corps beyond Gronkowski and Julian Edelman is pretty much a disaster -- though, of course, it isn't likely to get any better moving forward.

At this point, what looked to be an aberration is settling into the new reality. Brady's skills have slipped just enough that he can no longer make up for the subpar talent the organization has surrounded him with. And things won't get any easier for Brady in Week 5, with the Bengals on the schedule. No team has been stingier against opposing quarterbacks than the Bengals, who have allowed just two touchdowns through three games, with six total interceptions.

At this point, sitting Brady is a pretty easy call. In fact, the more pertinent question is whether the 26th-ranked Fantasy quarterback is still worth owning in 99 percent of leagues.

Tom Brady puts on disastrous performance
by Larry Hartstein |

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was removed from the loss at Kansas City with his team trailing 41-7 early in the fourth quarter and replaced by rookie Jimmy Garoppolo. Brady turned in a horrific performance, completing 14 of 23 throws for 159 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions and a lost fumble.

Brady felt heavy pressure from a revved-up Chiefs defense. Linebacker Tamba Hali came in untouched for a strip-sack in the third quarter, then Brady got picked off on two of his next three drives. Receiver Julian Edelman cut his route short on the first interception, but Brady had thrown into double coverage anyway. Brady's second pick was returned 39 yards for a touchdown, ending his night.

Brady's lone highlight came Brandon LaFell turned a third-quarter slant into a 44-yard touchdown.

Having accounted for four touchdowns and five turnovers this season, Brady will face the Bengals on Sunday night.

Tom Brady again short of electric in win
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady again had trouble moving his team down the field in Week 3, this time at home against a highly suspect Raiders defense that allowed 30 points to the Texans last time out. The Patriots, going without the big defensive plays that propelled them to a 30-7 win over the Vikings last time out, put up only 16 points in Week 3, but it was just enough for the win.

Brady played mistake-free for the most part and still has yet to throw an interception this season, but without the benefit of a big play -- his longest pass went for only 22 yards -- he again had just one touchdown pass, a 6-yarder to tight end Rob Gronkowski late in the second quarter.

In all, he completed 24 of 37 passes for 234 yards, an improvement over the 149 he had at Minnesota in Week 2. His line would have looked better if Gronkowski hadn't dropped what looked like a 2-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter.

Brady will look to get the Patriots passing game back firing on all cylinders Week 4 at Kansas City.

Tom Brady doesn't do much in easy win at Minnesota
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had another weak day statistically, but unlike in Week 1, he didn't have to do much. New England took advantage of Minnesota turnovers and built a big lead, leaving Brady to attempt just 22 passes in a 30-7 rout. He completed 15 of those passes for just 149 yards along with a touchdown to Julian Edelman from 9 yards out. Brady had no turnovers.

It's entirely possible he plays a good game but still doesn't rack up stats in the Patriots' home debut in Week 3 against the Raiders.

Tom Brady struggles in season-opening loss
by Chris Towers |

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was not at his sharpest in Week 1 against the Dolphins Sunday, a 33-20 loss.

Brady threw the ball 56 times in the game, completing 29 of those passes for just 249 yards. That is his lowest yardage total for any game with 50-plus attempts in his career; his previous low was 288 yards on 52 attempts against Buffalo a year ago.

Brady did toss one touchdown in the game, a 6-yarder to Rob Gronkowski in the second quarter, but managed little else from that point on. He was under constant pressure and lost a pair of fumbles in the second half, while completing just 10 of 27 passes for 62 yards after halftime.

The offensive line had trouble keeping Brady upright for long stretches Sunday, which hurt his effectiveness. He will hope for better protection in Week 2 against the Vikings next Sunday.
