Demps was a special teams ace early in his career until breaking out as a playmaker in the secondary over the last four years, when he generated 18 takeaways. He's coming off a career year in which he intercepted six passes in 2016, and he'll likely be paired up as a starting safety with Adrian Amos. He's looking like an upside pick at the safety position in IDP leagues.
Depms (hamstring) is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Bears on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Demps' deal will average $4.5 million per year in earnings. the spent the last two seasons in Houston, recording 116 combined tackles during his stay. The 31-year-old safety was tied for second in the NFL with six interceptions in 2016, and was part of the reason the Texans were second in the NFL with only 202.4 passing yards allowed per game. He will provide Chicago with a solid piece for the backend of their secondary.
Demps (hamstring) is inactive for Saturday's game at New England.
The NFL's leader among safeties with six interceptions, Demps' absence further hinders the Texans' ability to stop Tom Brady and company. With Demps out of the lineup, Corey Moore and Andre Hal should garner most of the snaps at safety in the divisional round.
Demps (hamstring) is questionable to play in Saturday's game against the Patriots.
Demps aggravated a previous hamstring injury during last weekend's wild-card matchup with the Raiders and was listed as a limited participant in every practice Wednesday through Friday. If he isn't able to play, look for Andre Hal to roll with the starting unit.
Demps (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday and is considered day-to-day heading into Saturday's divisional-round playoff game against the Patriots.
Demps was forced out of last week's wild-card round win over the Raiders, but looks like he'll be ready for the Patriots this week. The 31-year-old veteran finished the regular season with six interceptions, tied for second in the NFL.
