Dolphins counting on Cortland Finnegan bouncing back
by Larry Hartstein |

The Dolphins are banking on a bounceback season from cornerback Cortland Finnegan as they "need another veteran presence in the secondary," reports Finnegan will battle second-year corners Jamar Taylor and Will Davis for the starting job opposite Pro Bowler Brent Grimes.

"Finnegan's experience gives him the advantage, but he must also stay healthy and productive to keep his job during the regular season," the report said. "That is perhaps a bigger challenge."

Cortland Finnegan taking two-year deal with the Dolphins
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

Miami is expected to sign cornerback Cortland Finnegan to a two-year deal, a source told NFL Network. The Dolphins will pair him with Brent Grimes as their starting corners, assuming they don't open up a competition for the other starting spot with Will Davis.

Finnegan struggled last year with the Rams, totaling one interception and 27 total tackles in seven games before fracturing an orbital bone. He should be fine for the start of training camp.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said the team is interested in re-signing cornerback Cortland Finnegan at a later date. Finnegan will be released soon, before his $3 million roster bonus kicks in next week.

LaCanfora: Rams expected to cut Cortland Finnegan
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

Rams cornerback Cortland Finnegan is not expected to return to the team next season, reports CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason LaCanfora.

LaCanfora reports there is no way a team still trying to build and with almost no cap room will pay Finnegan $6 million with a $10 million cap hit, especially at the end of his career. He says if Finnegan is designated a post-June 1 cut, the Rams save $9 million in cap space.

Finnegan appeared in just seven games in 2013 and finished with 27 tackles and one interception.
