Steer clear of Vikings WR's Thursday
by Chris Towers |

The Vikings' receiving corps has had to deal with two different quarterbacks over the last two weeks, and they may see a third if Teddy Bridgewater's ankle injury forces him to sit out Thursday's game against the Packers in Week 5.

Though Bridgewater threw the ball well in his first start, it was little-used third receiver Jarius Wright who saw the bulk of the bump. Greg Jennings and Cordarrelle Patterson, the team's more well established duo, combined for just five receptions. Even if Bridgewater does play Thursday, we just don't have enough information on how he likes to use his receivers to know whether Sunday's game is the start of a pattern or not.

We really need to see more from Bridgewater before we can determine how he and the coaching staff wants to use his receivers. With nothing in the way of must-start players among this trio, you probably want to avoid using them in Week 5.

Greg Jennings shows off his big play ability Week 4
by Chris Cwik |

Vikings wide receiver Greg Jennings showed off his big play ability Week 4.

Jennings only had three receptions, but managed to pick up 72 yards. During the game, Jennings hauled in two passes that went for 29 yards. His other reception went for 14 yards. Jennings even managed to draw a defensive holding penalty on his final reception, but still came up with the pass. The penalty wound up being declined.

He'll take on the Packers Week 5.

If you need a last-minute Brandon Marshall replacement...
by Chris Towers |

What is a Fantasy owner to do if Brandon Marshall's lingering ankle injury forces the Bears to sit him down in Week 4?

Luckily, the Bears play at 1:00 pm EST, so we will know if Marshall is inactive by 11:30 am, giving you plenty of time to shuffle your roster. However, if you don't have any capable replacements available on your bench -- remember, six teams are on bye this week -- here are some guys you may be able to snag in free agency at the last minute to fill in for Marshall, all of whom are listed among the top-50 at their positions by Dave Richard and Jamey Eisenberg:

Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson (42 percent owned), Raiders wide receiver James Jones (68 percent), Jets wide receiver Jeremy Kerley (29 percent), Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (66 percent), or Vikings wide receiver Greg Jennings (53 percent).

If you have Marshall slotted into the flex spot, consider running backs Jerick McKinnon (19 percent) of the Vikings, Justin Forsett (63 percent) of the Ravens, Jacquizz Rodgers (19 percent) of the Falcons, Jonathan Grimes (13 percent) of the Texans, or Dexter McCluster (19 percent) of the Titans

Change can only help Greg Jennings
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

Let's face it: Matt Cassel was no good as the Vikings' quarterback. No good at all. So while we have every reason to believe Greg Jennings has lost it based on his work with the Vikings, we can't simply overlook that he was working with Cassel all that time. Well ... and Christian Ponder, but that's even worse.

But with Cassel now out for the season with a broken foot and Ponder safely confined to the bench, Jennings has a chance, for the first time as a Viking, to work with a quarterback with legitimate upside.

Granted, particularly for quarterbacks, upside doesn't mean anything on its own, but Jennings seemed to hit it off with Teddy Bridgewater Week 3 at New Orleans. He was the rookie's favorite target, connecting with him on four passes for 62 yards in about three quarters of play.

Jennings' production will ultimately depend on Bridgewater's development, but with Cordarrelle Patterson still yet to emerge as the go-to guy in the passing game, Jennings stands out as a reliable veteran target for the rookie. And as long as Bridgewater is better than Cassel and Ponder, that could make him at least a bye-week replacement.

Looking ahead at Week 4 WR waiver wire options
by Chris Towers |

Jamey Eisenberg considers Jordan Matthews of the Eagles, Brian Quick of the Rams, Allen Robinson of the Jaguars, James Jones of the Raiders and Hakeem Nicks of the Colts the first five receivers you should be targeting on waivers ahead of Week 4.

Additionally, Riley Cooper, Greg Jennings, Jarrett Boykin, Kenny Stills and Miles Austin are mentioned as possibly worth dropping if you need the roster spot right away.
