Dolphins inform LB Phillip Wheeler of release
by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com

Dolphins Linebacker Phillip Wheeler has been informed by the team that he will be released. The move was made to create cap space.

Wheeler came to the Dolphins via free agency in 2013.  He signed a five-year deal worth $26 million, $13 million of which was guaranteed.

The signing of Wheeler led to the releases of linebackers Karlos Dansby and Kevin Burnett.

He was moved from strongside linebacker to weakside linebacker in 2014. He struggled with the switch and voiced his displeasure by saying that he would have been better off on the strongside.
