Jets' Darrelle Revis won't defend Pats' Tom Brady on Deflategate
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com

Darrelle Revis is in a unique position when it comes to the Deflategate controversy.

When the initial allegation was made following the AFC Championship, Revis was a member of the Patriots and teammates with Tom Brady. Now he's back on the Jets and a rival of the team he won a Super Bowl with this past season.

When asked by the New York Daily News about the issue, Revis didn't say his old teammate should get a pass

"Everybody's blowing it up because it is Tom Brady," Revis said. "I understand that. But if (the NFL) feels he did the crime or he did something and they want to penalize them, then that's that. (The Patriots) have a history of doing stuff. You can't hide that. ... Tom was there when they did that stuff in the past."

Revis added that if Brady wins his appeal and his suspension is reduced it should be due to new evidence, not because of who he is in relation to the NFL's brand.

"If I fail a drug test, then I fail a drug test. If I get a DUI, I get a DUI," Revis said. "If Tom gets caught with a DUI, it's a DUI. ... If they are saying that he did what he's done, then the suspension is the suspension. I'm not the commissioner and don't make the rules. If they want to change (the suspension) based on new information or new evidence, then okay, but it should have nothing to do with Tom being the face (of the NFL)."

Jets CB Darrelle Revis says he's a better, smarter player now
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer

Jets All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis will turn 30 this summer but says he's a better player now than when he was younger, reports NJ.com.

"You know what? I think I'm better than I was before, when I played earlier in my career," Revis said at the Jets' voluntary veteran minicamp.

The Jets brought Revis back as a free agent this past offseason and the veteran believes he's also a smarter player now than his first stint in New York.

"I think I'm way more intelligent in the position. I had a great learning experience last year with [Patriots head coach] Bill [Belichick]. He helped me in a lot of ways," Revis said. "I've seen the game a different way. But at the same time I think just the growth, of me growing as a player, and growing as a man has helped me tremendously.

Report: NFL fines Jets $100,000 in Darrelle Revis tampering case
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

The league has fined the New York Jets $100,000 for tampering in relation to their signing of cornerback Darrelle Revis in March, the New York Daily News reports.

The Jets will not lose any draft picks due to the ruling.

The NFL sent an investigator to the Jets' facility in Florham Park, N.J. during the three-day negotiating window that preceded the beginning of free agency to question general manager Mike Maccagnan about his team's pursuit of Revis. Owner Woody Johnson said in late December that he'd "love for Darrelle to come back."

Revis, who spent his first six seasons with the Jets, racked up 47 tackes and two interceptions with the Super Bowl-champion Patriots last season.

Belichick: Losing Darrelle Revis 'not a big story' to Patriots
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

The Patriots lost cornerback Darrelle Revis to the division rival Jets, but Bill Belichick isn't concerned.

Meeting the media at the NFL Owners Meetings, Belichick said, "That’s NFL free agency ... Players leave teams and go to teams in free agency every year. That’s not a big story." Per ESPN's Mike Reiss

Jets coach Todd Bowles has versatile plans for Darrelle Revis
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com

Jets coach Todd Bowles' secondary will be in good hands with cornerback Darrelle Revis this coming season.

With Revis in the fold, Bowles knows he has the freedom to mix and match various coverages on a game-to-game basis. The Patriots were able to do that with Revis and Brandon Browner this past season.

When asked about Revis' role at the owners meetings, Bowles said Revis will be asked to provide multiple roles on defense.

"Some games he'll be left [corner] and right [corner]," Bowles said, via the New York Daily News. "Some games he'll match up [vs. the best WR]."
