| Agent: Packers want to lock up Finley: The agent for Packers TE Jermichael Finley told the Green Bay Press-Gazette that the team is interested in signing his client to a long-term deal and to not use the franchise tag. The agent, Blake Baratz, says that while discussions have been ongoing, he wants the team to pay Finley like he's a receiver, not a tight end, because he isn't used like a tight end traditionally is used. That includes if they do use the franchise tag -- the difference between the guaranteed one-year pay for a tight end and a receiver is expected to be roughly $4 million. Head coach Mike McCarthy even made mention of Finley's skills recently, referencing his ability to be a receiver in a number of different spots on the field. (Updated 01/20/2012) |

| Finley posted career-best numbers in 2011 but still was dwarfed by the production of the elite tight ends in the NFL. Playing 16 games, Finley caught 55 passes for 767 yards and eight scores, though three of them came in the same game (at Chicago) and four total were scored on the Bears. Only four times in 2011 did he have 10 or more Fantasy points in a game. Finley is an attractive No. 1 tight end who can be had between Rounds 5 and 6 in drafts this summer. (Updated 01/20/2012). |
