The Montreal Canadiens announced Saturday evening that forward Max Pacioretty will be out of the lineup for at least the next three to four weeks after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.
It's a big loss for the Canadiens as he's not only one of their best players, but was also their leading scorer in 2011-12 with 65 points during a breakout season that saw him score a career-high 33 goals.
The Canadiens signed him to a six-year, $27-million contract extension last summer.
He didn't score a goal in his first three games in 2013 but had four assists.
