  • Flames' Dennis Wideman: Gets a 20-game suspension

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/3/16) Wideman has been suspended for 20 games due to an incident in which he crosscheked a linesman, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.

Wideman was expected to receive a rather lengthy suspension for the hit, and 20 games isn't exactly a surprise. The blueliner will get a chance to appeal the suspension if he'd like, but it also wouldn't be surprising if the veteran accepts the punishment he was handed. If that's the case, Wideman would first be eligible to rejoin his teammates in game action March 14.

Flames' Dennis Wideman: Facing indefinite suspension

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/28/16) Wideman will be suspended indefinitely for crosschecking a linesman Wednesday, pending a hearing to be conducted after the All-Star break, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.

Wideman crosschecked linesman Don Henderson from behind in Wednesday's game against the Predators, but the defenseman was quoted in the Guardian saying the violent hit was unintentional. "(...) Throughout my career, and I've been around for a few years, I think I've treated every official with the utmost respect, and I would never intentionally try to hit a linesman or a ref or anything like that. It was completely unintentional, and I already apologized to him." Look for the NHL to determine how many games Wideman will miss once the All-Star break concludes.

Flames' Dennis Wideman: Scores in loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/12/16) Wideman scored a power-play goal in Monday's loss to the Sharks.

Wideman set a career-high mark with 15 goals last season, but Monday's tally was just his second of the year. Overall, the 32-year-old is having something of a disappointing campaign after last year's breakout season, as he has just 19 points and sports a minus-11 rating.

Flames' Dennis Wideman: Scores in loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/20/15) Wideman scored a power-play goal in Sunday's loss to the Red Wings.

The goal was the first tally of the year for Wideman, after firing off a career-high 15 last season. The veteran defenseman had been held off the scoresheet in four straight coming into Sunday's contest, but the performance could help get him going in the goal department.

Flames' Dennis Wideman: Records two helpers in win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/9/15) Wideman contributed a pair of assists in 25:04 of ice time in Tuesday's win over Dallas.

That's a three-game point streak for Wideman, who now has 13 assists in 27 games on the season. While he's starting to produce points, fantasy goers are disappointed he's stuck at zero goals this season after exploding for a career-high 15 last season. He's logging heavy minutes and seeing power-play time, so expect the veteran to get on the board rather soon.
