Top Blues News

  • Blues' Justin Faulk: Finds back of net again

Faulk scored his 10th goal of the season in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Lightning.

The veteran blueliner spoiled Andrei Vasilevskiy's shutout bid early in the second period with a blast from the point, but it was the only spark of offense the Blues could muster. Faulk has found the back of the net in three of the last four games and gotten onto the scoresheet in seven of the last nine. On the season, he's compiled 20 points in 38 contests with 75 blocked shots, 73 shots on net, 31 hits, 22 PIM and a minus-1 rating.

  • Blues' Jordan Binnington: Jolted by Bolts

Binnington made 13 saves in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Lightning.

The Blues were thoroughly outplayed at both ends of the ice, and Binnington had little chance on any of the pucks that got past him -- two of which came on Tampa Bay power plays, and two on deflected point shots. The veteran netminder has only one win in December, going 1-4-1 in six starts with a ghastly 4.51 GAA and .832 save percentage.

  • Blues' Jordan Binnington: Gets starting nod Monday

Binnington will be between the pipes on the road against the Lightning on Monday.

Binnington will make just his second appearance in the Blues' last six outings, having taken a 2-1 overtime loss to the Rangers on Thursday. He has earned just one victory in his last five contests, posting a 1-3-1 record to go with a 4.64 GAA and .842 save percentage in that span.

  • Blues' Cam Fowler: Earns 400th career assist

Fowler logged an assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Panthers.

The helper was the 400th of Fowler's career. The 34-year-old defenseman's contributions on offense have been spotty this season -- he's picked up just two helpers over his last 13 games. For the year, he's at 13 points, 54 shots on net, 35 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating over 37 appearances, though he still sees prominent minutes for the Blues.

  • Blues' Otto Stenberg: Earns first two helpers

Stenberg notched two assists and went plus-2 in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Panthers.

Stenberg was held off the scoresheet in his first two NHL games, but he was able to get in on the fun as the Blues' offense erupted in this contest. The helpers were his first two points to go with four hits and two blocked shots so far. Stenberg is seeing time on the second line at even strength, but he'll have to work his way into a power-play role to have more widespread fantasy appeal.

  • Blues' Pavel Buchnevich: Records pair of helpers

Buchnevich logged two assists (one on the power play), fired two shots on net and went plus-3 in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Panthers.

Buchnevich is seven games removed from his last goal, but he has five helpers in that span. The 30-year-old is showing some chemistry on a new-look top line with Robert Thomas and waiver pick-up Jonatan Berggren. Buchnevich is now at 19 points, 62 shots on net, 21 hits and a minus-8 rating across 37 appearances this season.

  • Blues' Justin Faulk: Beats buzzer in second period

Faulk scored a goal on four shots, added two PIM and blocked four shots in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Panthers.

Faulk has three goals and three assists over his last eight games. His tally in the final second of the second period Saturday was the eventual game-winner. The defenseman is having a strong bounce-back year with nine goals, 10 assists, 69 shots on net, 74 blocked shots, 31 hits, 22 PIM and a minus-2 rating over 37 appearances. Faulk has missed the 40-point mark in consecutive seasons, but he's on track to reach it this year if he stays healthy.

  • Blues' Jake Neighbours: Scores twice Saturday

Neighbours scored two goals in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Panthers.

Neighbours finally ended his seven-game goal drought with this performance. Despite holding a top-six role in the lineup, Neighbours has tallied just four goals and 10 points in his last 17 appearances while going without a goal in 15 of those games. He's still a player worth streaming in some formats, but his recent production has been subpar and doesn't justify keeping him as a regular starter in most formats.

  • Blues' Jonatan Berggren: Records three points

Berggren had a power-play goal and two even-strength assists in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Panthers.

The Blues claimed Berggren off waivers from the Red Wings on Dec. 16, and he didn't waste time making an impact with his new team. He has two goals and two assists in three games with St. Louis. Berggren isn't expected to continue putting up points at this pace, although he'll continue to have plenty of opportunities to produce if he stays in a top-six role. Before being waived, he was scratched for 19 of 34 contests with Detroit, so it seems he only needed a change of scenery to turn things around.

  • Blues' Robert Thomas: Three points in win

Thomas recorded two even-strength goals and a power-play assist in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Panthers.

Thomas was a dominant offensive force for the Blues and participated in three of the team's six goals. This was Thomas' third multi-point effort across his last seven appearances, a stretch in which he's racked up nine points (five goals, four helpers), 18 shots on goal, three hits, four blocked shots and a plus-2 rating.

  • Blues' Joel Hofer: Beaten twice, earns win

Hofer stopped 27 of 29 shots in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Panthers.

Hofer was beaten twice in the second period, as the Panthers attempted to come back from a two-goal deficit, but the 25-year-old netminder shut the door for good the rest of the way and got plenty of goal support. Hofer has won three of his last four starts, posting a 2.00 GAA and a .925 save percentage in that span.

  • Blues' Dylan Peterson: Scores twice in AHL win

Peterson scored twice in AHL Springfield's 3-1 win over Charlotte on Saturday.

This was Peterson's second multi-point effort of the season. The 23-year-old is up to four goals and 10 points over 17 outings for the Thunderbirds this season. He's in the last year of his entry-level contract, and he doesn't look to be particularly close to his first NHL call-up.

  • Blues' Joel Hofer: Defending visiting crease Saturday

Hofer will guard the visiting goal in Florida on Saturday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

Hofer shut out the Jets on Wednesday, stopping 24 shots for his third shutout of the campaign. He is 6-7-2 with a 2.96 GAA and an .896 save percentage for the lowly Blues this season. The Panthers could be a tired team Saturday after scoring three times in the last 10 minutes of the third period en route to a 4-3 shootout win over Carolina on Friday.

  • Blues' Matt Luff: Loaned to AHL affiliate

Luff was reassigned to AHL Springfield on Friday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

Luff played five games with the Blues during his recall, scoring once. The 28-year-old has had success at the AHL level this season, tallying seven goals and adding seven assists in 17 games.

  • Blues' Jonatan Berggren: First goal with new team

Berggren scored a goal in Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Rangers.

This was Berggren's second game with the Blues since he was plucked off waivers from the Red Wings. He's immediately stepped into a third-line role, and with a goal and four shots over two contests, he could stick in the lineup for a while. Prior to being waived, he was scratched for 19 of 34 contests with Detroit. Berggren has put up three goals, four helpers, 24 shots, 11 hits and a minus-2 rating over 17 appearances this season.

... See More ... See Less
  • Blues' Jordan Binnington: Loses in overtime

Binnington allowed two goals on 31 shots in Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Rangers.

Binnington didn't start the last three games, as Joel Hofer has been earning more playing time of late. This was a good performance for Binnington, but he didn't get enough goal support, falling to 1-3-1 over his last five outings. He's at 7-8-6 with a 3.41 GAA and an .873 save percentage through 22 contests overall. Considering Hofer posted a shutout in Wednesday's win over the Jets, it wouldn't be surprising to see Binnington on the bench for Saturday's game against the Panthers.
