Well, that was quite the welcome home. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and goalkeeper Claudio Bravo returned to Barcelona on Wednesday for their Champions League group stage encounter as Lionel Messi scored a fantastic hat trick and Neymar added a goal in a 4-0 win.

Guardiola won two UCL titles at Barcelona and Claudio Bravo won one at the club two years ago, and now together at City, this match was looked at as the most competitive and most exciting on Wednesday's slate, but it was all Barcelona all game long.

Messi scored his first 17 minutes in and finished off his hat trick in the second half, registering his seventh career UCL hat trick.

Neymar missed a penalty kick late but got his goal minutes later as the hosts won comfortably with both teams finishing the match with 10 men.

Bravo was shown a red card in the second half for a blatant handball outside of the box, while Jeremy Mathieu of Barca saw double yellow in the second half.

The convincing win sees Barcelona lead second-place City by five points atop of Group C as the Catalan giants move one step closer to a spot in the knockout stages.
