Move over Michael Vick, there will be a Lionel Messi Experience theme park soon
The Messi Experience Park will be opening in China and feature 20 attractions
Lionel Messi is getting his own theme park in China, and it will open in 2019. According to ESPNFC, The Messi Experience Park will open in Nanjing and will feature over 20 attractions that are supposed to offer an experience of all things Messi.
The park will supposedly use virtual and augmented reality to show highlights of his career and even allow training sessions with a virtual Messi.
"I hope to provide [the visitors with an] experience they've never had before and to inspire them to pick up the sport early on. Hopefully, they will feel that I am around when visiting the park," Messi told the media in China.
Sadly, there aren't expected to be rollercoasters, which means it may rate slightly below the fictitious Michael Vick Experience theme park from those Nike ads:
Obviously, this is a bit of news that we can file under "odd." But, with how much the sport is growing in China, it sounds like a tremendous opportunity to build his brand.
There's no word as to when the David Beckham theme park in Los Angeles will open, though.
