WATCH: Dempsey makes no mistake after USMNT gets a penalty kick in its favor
The U.S. took a 1-0 lead early on Costa Rica thanks to the Sounders star's fine finish from the spot
Just a few days after conceding a penalty kick against Colombia in the Copa America opener, the United States got one of their own.
In what felt like a must-win situation against Costa Rica on Tuesday, the U.S. took the lead in the opening minutes from the penalty kick spot. Bobby Wood was clearly pushed at the far post off a DeAndre Yedlin cross, and Clint Dempsey stepped up, making no mistake. Take a look.

The U.S. gave up an early goal last time out, and this time it gets one early. A fantastic start at Soldier Field.
