What to Know

The Elon Phoenix are 3-10 against the Northeastern Huskies since December of 2015, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Wednesday. Elon and Northeastern will face off in a Colonial battle at 7 p.m. ET at Schar Center. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, the Phoenix got maybe a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Arkansas Razorbacks an easy 81-55 win. The losing side was boosted by forward Michael Graham, who had 14 points in addition to six rebounds. Graham hadn't helped his team much against the Duke Blue Devils two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

Meanwhile, the Huskies entered their contest against the Davidson Wildcats two weeks ago without any home losses -- but there's a first time for everything. Northeastern took a 79-69 hit to the loss column. Guard Tyreek Scott-Grayson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 20 points and five assists along with six boards.

Elon is expected to lose this next one by 4.5. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn't have high expectations for them since the squad is 3-6 ATS when expected to lose.

The losses put Elon at 3-10 and the Huskies at 6-5. Two numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Phoenix are 16th worst in college basketball in points allowed per game, with 77.2 on average. Northeastern has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 35th fewest points per game in college basketball, having accrued only 64.5 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
