The San Jose State Spartans have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Bethesda Flames at 6:30 p.m. ET Jan. 8 at Provident Credit Union Event Center. Bethesda will be strutting in after a victory while the Spartans will be stumbling in from a defeat.

SJSU entered their contest against the Santa Clara Broncos two weeks ago without any home losses -- but there's a first time for everything. SJSU got maybe a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Santa Clara an easy 79-57 win. One thing holding SJSU back was the mediocre play of forward Tibet Gorener, who did not have his best game: he played for 30 minutes but put up just seven points on 3-for-13 shooting.

Meanwhile, the Flames ultimately received the gift of an 82-80 win from a begrudging Northridge squad two weeks ago.

San Jose State's loss took them down to 6-5 while Bethesda's win pulled them up to 1-0. A win for the Spartans would reverse both their bad luck and Bethesda's good luck. We'll see if SJSU manages to pull off that tough task or if Bethesda keeps their momentum going instead.
