Lamar coach Pat Knight was fired Sunday morning in the middle of a season that, to this point, has produced a 3-22 record featuring a 2-11 mark in the Southland conference.
A school official confirmed the news to CBSSports.com on Sunday morning. Lamar formally announced the firing Sunday afternoon. Former Memphis head coach Tic Price will be Lamar's interim coach until the end of the season.
Knight is the son of Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight. He was fired after his fourth season at Texas Tech in 2011, and, less than a month later, he landed the Lamar job. He made the NCAA tournament in his first season but has since gone 6-50.
