Who's Playing

Ohio State @ Villanova

Regular Season Records: Ohio State 20-11; Villanova 27-7

What to Know

The Ohio State Buckeyes and the #6 Villanova Wildcats are set to clash at 2:40 p.m. ET March 20 at PPG Paints Arena in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. OSU will be hoping to build upon the 76-51 win they picked up against the Wildcats when they previously played in November of 2019.

While not quite a landslide, the contest between OSU and the Loyola Chicago Ramblers this past Friday was still a pretty decisive one as the Buckeyes wrapped it up with a 54-41 win. Guard Malaki Branham and forward E.J. Liddell were among the main playmakers for OSU as the former had 14 points in addition to five rebounds and the latter posted a double-double on 16 points and ten boards along with three blocks.

Meanwhile, Villanova earned some more postseason success in their game this past Friday. They made easy work of the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens and carried off an 80-60 victory. Villanova's success was spearheaded by the efforts of guard Justin Moore, who had 21 points and six assists, and forward Jermaine Samuels, who had 15 points along with nine rebounds.

The Buckeyes are expected to lose this next one by 4.5. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with OSU, who are 16-15 against the spread.

A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: OSU is ninth worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 10.2 on average. To make matters even worse for OSU, the Wildcats come into the matchup boasting the 15th fewest turnovers per game in college basketball at ten. So the cards are definitely stacked in Villanova's favor.
