Who's Playing

Miami (Fla.) @ Southern California

Regular Season Records: Miami (Fla.) 23-10; Southern California 26-7

What to Know

The #22 Southern California Trojans and the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes are set to clash at 3:10 p.m. ET March 18 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

USC came up short against the UCLA Bruins last Friday, falling 69-59. One thing holding the Trojans back was the mediocre play of forward Isaiah Mobley, who did not have his best game: he finished with only nine points on 4-for-11 shooting in his 38 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes were close but no cigar last week as they fell 80-76 to the Duke Blue Devils. Miami (Fla.)'s loss shouldn't obscure the performances of guard Jordan Miller, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards, and guard Kameron McGusty, who had 24 points in addition to seven rebounds.

Barring any buzzer beaters, USC is expected to win a tight contest Friday. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past two games, so buyers beware.

Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: USC is worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only ten on average. To make matters even worse for USC, the Hurricanes come into the game boasting the eighth fewest turnovers per game in college basketball at 9.6.
